IT Support Technician

Watervliet Public Schools is seeking an outstanding IT Support Technician. This position will be contracted through EduStaff and not through Watervliet Public Schools. The City of Watervliet is located in southwest Michigan, approximately 15 miles east of the St. Joseph/Benton Harbor metropolitan area, in Berrien County, and 35 miles west of Kalamazoo, MI. The school district serves approximately 1,450 PreK-12 students. The district also has long-standing, successful traditions in academics, athletics, and the arts. Overview: Provide on demand assistance and support for technology users in the district. You will be required to support education professionals, students and staff. The support will include but is not limited to gathering information needed for troubleshooting, utilizing problem solving skills to find a solution, implementation of fixes, and proper documentation and communication to the client. The Technician is required to work with a self-directed and service oriented attitude. The Technician will be able to execute small projects on his/her own and work with the Director of Technology in planning and executing larger projects.This position will be contracted through EduStaff and not through Watervliet Public School with the possibility of full time employment including full benefits through W.P.S Qualifications: Experience in an IT Technical Support Role preferred (but not required) with demonstrated strong communication, written and verbal skills working with others. Working knowledge of troubleshooting PC, Macintosh and Chromebook hardware and operating systems. Ability to perform diagnostic examinations and repair of workstations, printers and other technology devices that are district owned. Familiarity with network infrastructure and Google Workspace for Education. Ability and means to travel between district buildings (campus is split between 3 locations approximately 1.5 miles apart). Ability to work independently, prioritize and meet deadlines in a timely manner. Ability to lift and carry equipment of up to 50lbs or more and able to use a ladder and get down and up from the floor. Shows high integrity and is reliable/punctual. Ability to work beyond established hours or flexibility with hours when larger projects arise. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: 1. Technical Support and TroubleshootingProvide tech support for staff and students (hardware, software, devices, network access). Manage ticketing system; prioritize and track resolution of technology issues. Maintain and deploy district devices (Chromebooks, teacher laptops, interactive boards, etc.). Troubleshoot printing, projection, and classroom AV setups. Support online testing (state assessments, NWEA, etc.). 2. Network and Systems Administration (With the Support from an Outside Vendor) Monitor network performance, connectivity, and security alerts. Manage switches, wireless access points, and VoIP systems (with support from vendors if applicable). Handle user account provisioning and deactivation. Coordinate software updates and endpoint security measures. Manage district wide security systems and camera systems. 3. Device and Asset ManagementOversee device inventory and asset tagging using management software. Coordinate repairs, replacements, and lifecycle planning for devices. Manage equipment checkout and returns. Cleaning and preventive maintenance of district owned devices, including summer support. 4. Classroom and Instructional SupportSupport classroom tech integration and troubleshoot instructional tools. Help staff with new hardware/software setup during professional development or rollout. Assist in maintaining student learning platforms and rostering systems (Clever, ClassLink, etc.). 5. Communication and CollaborationWork closely with building administrators and secretaries to coordinate support. Serve as a bridge between instructional staff and district tech services. Maintain clear documentation for recurring procedures and configurations. Train teachers and staff on common troubleshooting and technology best practices. Other duties as assigned by the Director of Technology.
