Job Title: Shop Mechanic


Job Summary: As a Shop Mechanic, you will be responsible for diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining various vehicles and equipment in a shop setting. This role requires a keen understanding of automotive systems, strong problem-solving skills, and a commitment to delivering high-quality service to customers.


Responsibilities:


  1. Diagnose mechanical issues and make decisions regarding best course of action for repair.
  2. Perform routine maintenance tasks such as oil changes, tire rotations, and fluid checks.
  3. Repair and replace parts as needed, including small equipment such as chainsaws, chippers, small and large engines, brakes, and electrical systems.
  4. Conduct thorough inspections to identify potential problems and recommend necessary repairs.
  5. Follow safety procedures and guidelines to ensure a safe working environment.
  6. Keep accurate records of repairs, maintenance, and inventory.
  7. Communicate effectively to explain repairs and provide appropriate timelines.
  8. Collaborate with team members to efficiently complete tasks and meet deadlines.
  9. Stay updated on industry advancements and new technologies to enhance skills and knowledge.
  10. Maintain cleanliness and organization of the shop and equipment.


Requirements:


  1. High school diploma or equivalent; additional technical training or certification preferred.
  2. Proven experience as a mechanic, preferably in a shop environment.
  3. Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills.
  4. Proficiency in using diagnostic tools and equipment.
  5. Ability to interpret technical manuals and diagrams.
  6. Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
  7. Effective communication and customer service skills.
  8. Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  9. Willingness to learn and adapt to new technologies and procedures.
  10. Physical stamina and strength to perform manual tasks and lift heavy objects.
  11. Valid driver's license and clean driving record.
