Growing together.This position supports and validates provider network contracting and unit cost management activities through financial modeling, analysis of utilization, and reporting. Conducts unit cost and contract valuation analysis in support of network contracting negotiations and unit cost management strategies. Manages unit cost budgets, target setting, performance reporting, and associated financial models. This position will primarily support the West Region geography, comprised of the States of Oregon, Washington, Montana, Alaska and Hawaii. This position is likely to be a telecommute arrangement, based on work experience.Challenge can often be its own reward. For all hires in the Minneapolis or Washington, D.C. area, you will be required to work in the office a minimum of four days per week.Primary ResponsibilitiesSupport network pricing strategies and tactics, in collaboration with local network field leaders and network managersAnalyze financial impact of provider contractsAnalyze financial impact of corporate initiatives or external regulationsAnalyze payment appendices to provide options for various contracting approaches and methodologiesCommunicate results of financial impact and analysis to appropriate stakeholder groupsConduct financial and network pricing modeling, analysis and reportingConduct peer reviews of analytical models of othersPerform unit cost and contract valuation analysis in support of network contracting negotiations and unit cost management strategiesLead large, complex projects to achieve key business objectivesInfluence network provider pricing strategies and rate development by highlighting opportunities for improvement or protecting favorable rate structuresStrategize rates or contract methodology with Network Management to create optimal contractReview competitive rate information to identify appropriate provider pricingYou'll be rewarded and recognized for your performance in an environment that will challenge you and give you clear direction on what it takes to succeed in your role as well as provide development for other roles you may be interested in.Required QualificationsA college undergraduate degree in either Math, Accounting, Statistics, Finance, Economics or related field of study4+ years of experience with financial analysis, healthcare pricing, network pricing, healthcare economics or related disciplines3+ years of experience with healthcare provider payment methodologies and/or productsPresentation experience to internal or external stakeholders or customersAdvanced level of proficiency in MS ExcelProven excellent financial impact analysis, risk management, and data manipulation skillsProven solid interpersonal, collaboration, negotiation and communication skillsProven intermediate ability to interpret and review financial modeling results to evaluate the financial impact of contract changes and develop forecastsProven ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet deliverable deadlinesProven ability to research and solve problems independentlyPreferred QualificationsPostgraduate degree in Math, Accounting, Statistics, Finance, Economics or Actuarial ScienceExperience in MS Access, SAS, SQL or more advanced codingExperience with advanced statistical functions for financial modelingExperience and understanding of medical reimbursement coding (CPT, MSDRG, REV, ICD-10, etc.)All employees working remotely will be required to adhere to UnitedHealth Group's Telecommuter Policy. Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, etc. In addition to your salary, we offer benefits such as, a comprehensive benefits package, incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase and 401k contribution (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements). The salary for this role will range from $71,200 to $127,200 annually based on full-time employment.
