Consolidated Medical Travel is seeking a travel nurse RN Med Surg for a travel nursing job in Smyrna, Tennessee. Job Description & Requirements Specialty: Med Surg Discipline: RN Start Date: 01/12/2026 Duration: 13 weeks 36 hours per week Shift: 12 hours, days, nights Employment Type: Travel Unit Specifics Beds & Unit Composition Total beds: 54 Ortho/Spine unit: 11 dedicated, high-volume beds Patient Ratios RNs: 1:5-6 PCTs: 1:12-15 RN/LPN Team: Responsible for 10 total patients Each hall typically staffed with: 2-3 RNs 1 LPN (based on census/staffing) 1-2 PCTs Staffing Model Unit secretaries available weekdays until 8 p.m. Support from Techs and Externs RN/LPN team-based care model Equipment Utilized Alaris infusion pumps Remote telemetry Continuous pulse oximetry Specialty beds Transfer/patient mobility equipment Wound VAC systems Chest tubes NG and feeding tubes Other standard med-surg equipment Documentation System Meditech Scheduling Requirements Minimum of one weekend per 4-week schedule (may be split) Block scheduling considered case-by-case Floating Policy Floating occurs at the unit's discretion Patient Experience / RN Requirements Minimum 1 year of RN experience Patient Population General medical-surgical patients Orthopedic and spine patients (on designated floor) Trauma patients Psychiatric medical-hold patients Other mixed-acuity med-surg cases Hospital Requirements Certifications: BLS (required) ACLS (optional) Licensure: Active, unrestricted RN license
