Are you an experienced Environmental Health & Safety Coordinator looking for a new team to join?


The EHS Coordinator is responsible for creating, implementing, and maintaining safety programs to comply with regulations and ensure a safe working environment.


This role requires exceptional organizational skills, attention to detail, and effective communication to interact with employees at all levels.


Responsibilities:

Safety Program Development and Implementation:

  • Develop, implement, and maintain comprehensive environmental health and safety programs, policies, and procedures.
  • Regular risk assessments and hazard evaluations should be conducted to identify potential safety hazards and implement corrective actions.
  • Collaborate with departmental managers to ensure safety protocols are communicated and followed throughout the organization.


Regulatory Compliance:

  • Stay current with federal, state, and local environmental health and safety regulations, ensuring compliance with all applicable laws and standards.
  • Coordinate with regulatory agencies and conduct internal audits to assess safety standards and regulations compliance.


Training and Education:

  • Develop and deliver employee safety training programs, including new hire orientation, refresher courses, and specialized training as needed.
  • Provide guidance and support to employees on safety-related issues, including proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and emergency procedures.
  • Maintaining training records and documentation to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.


Incident Investigation and Reporting:

  • Investigate accidents, incidents, and near misses to determine root causes and implement corrective and preventive actions.
  • Prepare incident reports, documenting findings, corrective actions, and recommendations for improvement.
  • Track and analyze safety performance metrics to identify trends and areas for improvement.


Emergency Preparedness and Response:

  • Develop and maintain emergency response plans and procedures for various scenarios, such as fires, chemical spills, and natural disasters.
  • Coordinate drills and exercises to test emergency response plans and ensure readiness.
  • Serve as a liaison with emergency response agencies and coordinate response efforts as needed.


Qualifications:

  • A bachelor’s degree in occupational health and safety, environmental science, industrial hygiene, or a related field, as well as relevant certifications (e.g., CSP, CIH, CHMM), are a plus.
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in environmental health and safety management, preferably in a manufacturing or industrial setting, is required.
  • Must be familiar with federal, state, and local environmental health and safety regulations, including OSHA, EPA, and DOT requirements.
  • Experience developing and delivering safety training programs and conducting safety audits and inspections.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify safety hazards, assess risks, and implement adequate controls.
  • Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
