Director Of FinanceWe are looking for an experienced and strategic Director of Finance to oversee financial planning and analysis for our organization. This leadership role requires an individual with a strong grasp of financial operations and the ability to drive fiscal efficiency while supporting business objectives. Join our team in Oakland, California, and play a pivotal role in shaping our financial future.Responsibilities:Lead the development of annual and long-term operating budgets in partnership with executive leadership and the Board, aligning financial planning with strategic and capital goals.Conduct detailed budget variance analyses and evaluate revenue streams to strengthen organizational financial stability.Oversee all day-to-day accounting and finance operations, managing a team that includes controllers, specialists, and assistants.Administer financial systems (NetSuite, Bill.com, etc.), lead the transition from QuickBooks to NetSuite, and ensure accurate and timely monthly and year-end closes in compliance with GAAP.Design and maintain strong internal controls and financial reporting processes.Oversee contract and grant accounting, ensuring proper management of restricted/unrestricted funds and compliance with donor and federal requirements.Provide financial oversight for real estate and development projects, including Community Land Trusts, residential properties, and new construction.Manage complex financing structures such as Low-Income Housing Tax Credits (LIHTC) and New Markets Tax Credits (NMTC).Lead compliance efforts, including preparation and filing of all tax returns (e.g., IRS Form 990) and coordination of annual financial audits.Serve as primary liaison with external auditors and implement strategies to identify and mitigate financial risks.Requirements:Bachelor's degree in Finance or Accounting with at least seven years of progressive financial management experience, or a Master's in Finance or Business Management with a minimum of three years of relevant experience.At least five years of senior-level nonprofit accounting experience required; supervisory experience strongly preferred.In-depth knowledge of GAAP, nonprofit accounting standards, and Generally Accepted Government Auditing Standards (GAGAS).Familiarity with Community Development Corporation (CDC) accounting and tax credit financing structures such as LIHTC and NMTC is highly valued.Strong leadership and strategic planning abilities, with proven capacity to guide financial operations and teams effectively.Excellent written, verbal, and presentation skills for communicating complex financial information to varied audiences.Highly organized and self-motivated, capable of managing multiple priorities independently.
