This position will plan freight from our Distribution Centers as well as outside freight by creating a daily run list, ensuring all freight is delivered timely, efficiently, safely and in the most cost-effective way possible.Job Duties and Essential FunctionsResponsible for efficient and cost-effective scheduling of deliveries and routing of Rural King trucksCommunicate daily plan clearly to the driver team as well as our stores and other customersSchedule pickups of returned materials from the storesCoordinate with the Transportation Manager any driver issues to create a plan for load recoverySeek outside line hauls from vendors or carriers to eliminate driving with empty miles and to build on the profitability of Rural King TransportationProvide customer service and satisfaction to our storesEnsure that all DOT regulations are followedMonitor driver performance and disciplinePartner with Safety and HR to perform driver coaching's and other safety and HR communications to our fleetPartner with Truck Shop Management ensure our equipment is safe and DOT compliant and driver maintenance issues are resolvedOversee on call responsibilities to ensure driver issues are resolved in a timely mannerUse discretion and independent judgment in daily decisions while maintaining a high level of confidentiality and professionalismMay be required to cross train and perform other dutiesQualificationsAt least 2 years of transportation experience or equivalent combination of experience and educationProficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related softwareHighly proficient in Microsoft ExcelProficient with or the ability to quickly learn TMW and Peoplenet systemsKnowledge of logistics, including carriers, shipping policies and proceduresStrong understanding of Department of Transportation rules and regulations preferredExcellent verbal and written interpersonal and communication skillsExcellent customer service skillsExcellent conflict resolution skillsDemonstrated ability to adapt in a fast-paced environmentStrong analytical and problem-solving skillsExcellent organizational skills and attention to detailDemonstrated behaviors must reflect integrity, professionalism, and confidentialitySupervisory ResponsibilitiesYesPhysical RequirementsMust be able to sit or stand for prolonged periods of timeMust be able to lift up to 15 pounds at timesMust be able to access and navigate each department across facilitiesMust be able to verbally communicate effectively with others (in-person and via electronic devices)Must have close visual acuity
