Parks TechnicianThe Parks Technician I, II, and III is under general supervision of the Parks Superintendent and Field Services Manager and performs a wide variety of skilled and semi-skilled work in the maintenance, repair, and construction of City parks, athletic fields, irrigation systems, and related public facilities.The Parks Technician I is under general supervision; this is the entry-level class in the Parks series. Employees are not required to have directly related work experience. Work is observed and reviewed both during performance and upon completion. Once trained in specific tasks, employees are expected to work with limited supervision.The Parks Technician II is under general supervision; this is the mid-level class in the Parks series. Employees assigned to this class are expected to perform a wide variety of skilled and technical assignments related to the maintenance, repair, and construction of parks, streetscapes, and open spaces. Positions at this level may oversee moderately complex tasks/projects. Employees at this level are expected to informally mentor and train less experienced technicians.The Parks Technician III is under general supervision; this is the most advanced class in the Parks series. Employees assigned to this class are expected to perform a wide variety of skilled and technical assignments related to the maintenance, repair, and construction of parks, streetscapes, and open spaces with minimal instruction. Positions at this level will oversee advanced complex tasks/projects. Employees at this level are expected to mentor and train less experienced technicians.The employee is regularly required to exercise mental and visual concentration, listen, talk, stand, reach, twist, demonstrate manual dexterity, walk on level, uneven and slippery terrain, turn, kneel, bend, stoop, squat, balance, crouch, crawl, grasp, pinch, and making repetitive hand movement in the performance of daily duties. The employee will need to lift, carry, and push tools, equipment, and supplies weighing up to 117 pounds on an occasional basis and 20 to 50 pounds on a frequent basis. The employee will need to climb ladders, work in confined spaces, use power equipment/tools that produce vibration and noise, and work in work zones with moderate to heavy traffic. The employee regularly works in all outside weather conditions near moving equipment in areas with elevated noise levels and where chemicals may be utilized.
