PROJECT ENGINEER/GEOLOGIST

OAKLAND, CALIFORNIA

The ideal candidate for this position is a civil engineer or geologist with the experience, skills, and willingness to apply knowledge to a variety of environmental projects, including Phase I and Phase II Environmental Site Assessments (ESAs), vapor intrusion evaluation and mitigation, environmental restoration/resiliency, stormwater management, and all phases of environmental remediation including investigation, design, implementation, and operations and maintenance. Responsibilities include managing tasks and/or small projects, developing and implementing field programs, preparing workplans, managing and analyzing environmental data, and preparing written reports which document project activities and provide conclusions/recommendations. May also assist with proposal development. Field tasks include collecting environmental samples (soil, sediment, groundwater, soil vapor, indoor air, stormwater), logging soil borings, installing monitoring wells, performing site inspections, performing compliance monitoring during construction, and writing clear, concise field notes. Work will be performed under the supervision of a Professional Civil Engineer or Professional Geologist, as applicable.

Job Requirements:

·       BS and/or MS degree in civil/environmental engineering or geology/hydrogeology;

·       6 to 10 years of related job experience

·       Experience with the following activities:

o  Environmental site assessment and data collection methods

o  Development and implementation of field investigation programs

o  Workplan and report preparation

·       Personable with good verbal and written communication skills (high proficiency in English required)

·       Self-starter, resourceful, and organized, with the ability to work productively and independently on multiple projects concurrently under strict deadlines and budgets

·       Strong attention to detail, with excellent analytical judgment and problem-solving capabilities

·       Willingness to work in the field (requires lifting and moderately strenuous physical activity) and to travel when necessary

·       Previous environmental consulting experience desired

·       Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite and Adobe Acrobat; GIS and/or hydrologic modeling skills a plus

·       Professional Engineering or Professional Geologist license and current OSHA 40-hour HAZWOPER certification are preferred

Salary Range:   $85,000 to $110,000
