Housekeeping SupervisorSummary About the position: This position is Non-appropriated Fund (NAF) and will be assigned to the Langley Inns on Langley Air Force Base. This is a regular full-time position with 35 guaranteed hours. Responsibilities include distributing and balancing workload among employees, observing work in progress, production, adherence to quality and safety standards, instructing and training new employees, elevating unresolved employee complaints or operational issues to the supervisor, providing input on performance, progress, and disciplinary problems, reporting all repair and maintenance requirements according to established policy, reporting all safety violations to the immediate supervisor, updating computer database with room status, occupancy, check-outs and reports on housekeeping area, ensuring adequate stock of cleaning materials and equipment required to do the work, assisting custodial workers in selecting and using cleaning agents safely and cost-effectively and instructing them in the planning sequence of work, performing custodial worker duties as time permits or as assigned by the supervisor, cleaning guest rooms, storerooms, corridors, stairways, facilities and other areas, sweeping, dry mopping, scrubbing, waxing, and polishing floors using brooms, mops, lightweight vacuum cleaners, and lightweight floor scrubbers and buffers, dusting, waxing, and polishing furniture, emptying ashtrays and wastebaskets, collecting soiled linen and replacing with clean linen, and driving vehicles to access all lodging facilities. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if the position allows for qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Qualifying Experience: Ability to lead 3 or more custodial workers to accomplish housekeeping assignments. Must have functional experience and demonstrated knowledge of facility/equipment in housekeeping and the ability to build teams and work with others. Must have experience and knowledge of housekeeping principles and practices. Must be able to plan, coordinate, and time sequence steps needed to meet time constraints of work assignments. Experience and knowledge must have been gained either in a military lodging program or commercial hotel/motel.
