About the Role

As a Member of Technical Staff: Data Annotation Lead, you will be at the forefront of our data annotation efforts. You will collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders to gather and curate critical annotated data, ensuring our models perform optimally. This role demands strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work efficiently and accurately.

Key Responsibilities

  • Partner strategically with cross-functional stakeholders to understand user objectives and translate them into data annotation specifications.
  • Develop and manage annotation timelines, balancing realistic goals with aspirational targets.
  • Create and implement an effective annotation program, including clear instructions for annotators and quality checks to ensure data accuracy and consistency.
  • Meet deadlines and productivity targets while maintaining high accuracy rates.
  • Identify opportunities for process improvement and automation in data annotation workflows.


Ideal Candidate Qualifications

  • Experience in data annotation or related roles, with a solid understanding of annotation techniques and best practices.
  • Familiarity with annotation tools/software; experience in building or designing custom annotation tools is a plus.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with an eye for detail.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills, able to work effectively in a team environment.
  • Experience with annotating text (structured and unstructured), images, audio, and/or video data.
  • Knowledge of machine learning concepts and workflows is desirable but not required.
  • Ability to translate high-level dataset descriptions into specific requirements, iterating on the annotator interface and interaction mechanism.
  • Previous experience in building or leading a data annotation team is advantageous.
