For additional information on remote work at Penn State, see Notice to Out of State Applicants.JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS:The Visualization and Decision Support Division at the Penn State Applied Research Lab is seeking a qualified undergraduate Research and Development Interns.Visualization and Decision Support (VDS) researches, develops, and applies technical innovations that provide decision advantage through the use of visualizations, analytics, artificial intelligence, geographic information systems, simulations, and collaboration technologies.Undergraduates pursuing degrees in Computer Science, Information Science and Technology, and Engineering are encouraged to apply.Successful candidates will work up to 20 hours/week during the fall and spring semesters and 40 hours/week over the summer. This is a paid internship located in State College, PA. Relocation and housing are not provided.You will work in an Agile software development environment to develop and maintain web-based software solutions. Some tasks may include:parsing custom data formatsdesigning and implementing user-interfacesintegrating AI models into business workflowsbug fixes and architecture improvementsworking with virtual machines and containersDesired SkillsExperience in programming with Java, JavaScript, HTML and CSSExperience with databasesFast LearnerAttention to detailCandidates selected will be subject to a government security investigation.
