The City of Peoria‘s Development and Engineering Department/Engineering Services Division has an excellent opportunity for an Engineering Inspector that will serve as a liaison between the contractor, developer, utility company, and other City departments and staff. The position will perform journey level work in the inspection of the development projects, construction of a variety of City infrastructure projects and non-City owned utilities. This is accomplished by inspecting workmanship and materials used in a variety of projects, and ensuring compliance with plans, specifications, and departmental regulations.

The ideal candidate for this position will have:
- Excellent customer service, communication, and interpersonal skills;
- Experience performing civil inspections, monitoring construction activities, and performing acceptance testing in the construction industry;
- Knowledge in the fields of temporary traffic control and storm water pollution construction site inspection, as well as field-testing of soils, concrete, and asphalt pavement materials;
- Experience in a municipal or government setting.

Other Requirements
Minimum Requirements:
- Education: High school plus additional course work (equivalent to up to 1 year at a Community College or equivalent resulting in accumulation of similar knowledge and abilities);
- Experience: 2-4 years‘ experience. Considerable previous experience required in the same or similar previous positions;
- Physical Demands: Work requires heavy physical exertion and effort. Forces exerted are equivalent to lifting between 25 and 50 pounds.
Licenses and Certifications:
- Valid Arizona Class ‘D‘ Driver‘s License upon hire;
- APWA Certified Public Infrastructure Inspector (CPII) required in area of assignment within one year of hire.
