The Director of Student Affairs position is responsible for helping develop the accelerated, hybrid Doctor of Occupational Therapy Program at Edgewood College. The position is responsible for all student affairs functions, including orientation, progression and retention, and advisement. As Class Advisor, the Director of Student Affairs works to integrate all students (remote and local) into the College and OTD Program culture and serves as the primary point of contact for student issues related to distance learning life. The Director of Student Affairs holds a full-time faculty appointment and has administrative, academic/teaching, service, scholarship, and clinical practice responsibilities consistent with the mission and philosophy of the academic program.


The incumbent must reside or be willing to relocate to one of the following states upon hire: Wisconsin, Colorado, Illinois, Indiana, Louisiana, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, New Jersey, North Carolina, Ohio, South Carolina, Texas, Utah or Virginia.


Responsibilities

  • Coordinates student selection activities with Director of Admissions, to include application review, selection for interview, final student selection, and enrollment offers.
  • Assimilates students into the OTD Program immediately following enrollment offer acceptance and prior to orientation.
  • Coordinates and oversees all activities related to student success and retention (student assessment, wellness, faculty advising, peer support, professional development).
  • Coordinates and oversees the clinical coaching and mentoring program.
  • Serves as program liaison with the Edgewood College Division of Student Development. Arranges for student services support during onsite lab intensives.
  • Oversees the academic and professional behavior performance of students, to include grade reporting (academic progression, retention, withdrawal, and dismissal), professional conduct, self- and peer-evaluations, and election of class officers.
  • Coordinates and conducts student orientation and graduation functions.
  • Coordinates the ongoing development and review of regulations, policies, and procedures that meet accreditation standards and achieve program goals and expected outcomes.


Job Qualifications

Necessary Education or Work Experience

  • Earned terminal academic doctorate in a discipline appropriate for teaching or Doctor of Occupational therapy degree with specialization in a discipline appropriate for teaching responsibilities.


Required Knowledge and Skills

  • Understanding of higher education and contemporary clinical practice appropriate for leadership in occupational therapy clinical education.
  • Knowledge of legislative, regulatory, legal, and practice issues affecting didactic and clinical education, students, and the profession of occupational therapy.
  • Occupational therapist with an active, unrestricted license, eligible for licensure in Wisconsin.
  • Active in professional activities at local, state, and/or national levels.
  • Familiarity with teaching, advising, and mentoring students in a hybrid learning environment.
  • Participation in immersive labs on campus one-two times per semester.
  • Experience consistent with the assignment of faculty rank.
