Clinical faculty (regardless of rank) - faculty positions within the university that are not tenure track and not eligible for tenure; on a fixed term contract. Persons with the title of professor-clinical, associate professor-clinical, assistant professor-clinical and instructor-clinical. Duties and responsibilities are assigned in accordance with the workload guidelines laid out in the pattern of administration of each faculty department and, as appropriate, regional campus; Clinical faculty are teacher/practitioners and will be engaged primarily in teaching activities. These faculty normally have earned doctorate or other terminal degree in the relevant field or equivalent experience.
Division of Biostatistics and Population Health (BPH, departments/biomedical-informatics/divisions/division-of-biostatistics-and-population-health) in the Department of Biomedical Informatics (BMI, ) and Center for Biostatistics (CFB, departments/biostatistics) at The Ohio State University (OSU) is currently seeking applicants for open rank clinical-track faculty in biostatistics. Academic rank and track commensurate with academic record and experience.
Position Overview
Candidates with expertise and interests in clinical trial, population science, Bayesian statistics, causal inference, statistical learning, high-dimensional data, and/or electronic medical records are encouraged to apply. Successful applicants should have a Ph.D. in Statistics, Biostatistics, Epidemiology or a related discipline, with scientific collaboration and research interests in one or more of the following areas:
- Clinical trials, including Bayesian designs, pragmatic trials, hybrid-type studies, clustered designs, de-centralized trials, and rapid cycle research
- High-dimensional data, including complex correlated structures, novel omic data platforms, real-world applications, statistical methods in AI/ML, and basic science knowledge
- Population health and observation studies including cross-sectional studies, case-control studies, cohort studies, structural equation modeling, geospatial modeling, missing data, and measurement errors
- Community-based research, health disparities, and social determinants of health (SDoH)
Duties and Responsibilities
Successful candidates will work as part of a collaborative team with investigators across the health sciences campus to develop grant proposals and design studies for clinical trials, large cohorts, population research, basic science, and high-throughput omics at both The Ohio State University and Nationwide Childrens Hospital. Opportunities to develop methodologies, teach courses within our graduate programs, and mentor graduate students are available and encouraged.

Applicants should have a Ph.D. in Statistics, Biostatistics, Epidemiology or a related discipline.
Department/Division Overview
The Department of BMI and the Center for Biostatistics provide an academic home for informatics and biostatistics research, development and training at Ohio State. The Department of BMI and the Center for Biostatistics have one of the most comprehensive academic programs in the nation, including clinical informatics, AI in digital health, implementation science, bioinformatics, and biostatistics. They have a strong diversity, equity, inclusive culture for faculty who develop careers in both innovative research and collaborative research. Faculty in the Department of BMI have access to resources to assist in grant writing, management, and to stimulate collaboration. The department has a robust training curriculum for PhD, Masters, and Certificate programs. The department has also established a significant amount of resources in clinical data and high-performance computing and data storage. Faculty and staff in BMI can leverage an advanced information systems environment including inpatient and outpatient electronic health records, data warehousing platforms, and a variety of enterprise research information systems.

Faculty Defined
Clinical faculty (regardless of rank)- Persons with titles of assistant professor-clinical, associate professor-clinical and professor-clinical. These faculty will have earned a doctor of medicine (MD), doctorate (PhD) orother terminal degree in the relevant field. Clinical faculty members are not eligible for tenure and areappointed for terms of three to five years. They may be reappointed to successive terms. Their principal careerfocus is the delivery of exemplary clinical care, and may include teaching, and/or research.
Tenure-Track faculty (regardless of rank)- Persons with the titles of assistant professor, associate professor, orprofessor who are eligible for tenure or who have obtained tenure. These faculty will have earned a doctorate(PhD), Doctor of Medicine (MD) or other terminal degree in the relevant field of study. Their primary careerfocus centers on research, service, and teaching.Tenure-track faculty with MD or MD/PhD degrees may also beinvolved in clinical care.
Research Faculty (regardless of rank)- Persons with the titles of research assistant professor, research associateprofessor, or research professor. These faculty will have earned a doctorate(PhD) or other terminal degree inthe relevant field of study.Research faculty members are not eligible for tenure and areappointed for terms ofone to five years. Their principal careerfocus is research.
