Exciting opportunity to join a growing analytics team as the organization is embarking on a digital transformation journey driven by data analytics. The Financial Analyst will be responsible for analyzing and interpreting financial data to provide insights into the performance of a market area. The analyst will collaborate with various departments to gather relevant financial information, conduct thorough analysis, and make recommendations to optimize financial performance and achieve business objectives within the designated market area. They should not be afraid to challenge the business and the status quo and be a self-starter, driven for results, proactive and able to juggle many competing priorities. Other responsibilities and duties may be assigned as determined. The Financial Analyst is responsible for analyzing the needs of the various functional business areas within IWS and to provide financial insight into the day-to-day operations.


Job Responsibilities:


Conduct in-depth analysis of financial data related to the designated market area, including revenue, expenses, profitability, and market trends. Utilize various financial modeling techniques and tools to identify patterns, trends, and opportunities for improvement.


Assist in the development of financial forecasts and budgets for the market area. Monitor actual performance against forecasted figures and provide variance analysis to identify areas of concern or areas where targets are being exceeded.


Prepare regular financial reports and presentations for management, highlighting key performance indicators, financial metrics, and actionable insights. Communicate findings effectively to stakeholders and provide recommendations for strategic decision-making.


Assist in creating a business case for programs and projects to support the Company’s strategic growth plan and emerging businesses, including the financial returns, capital requirements, project risks and project management.


Continuously seek opportunities to improve financial processes, reporting methodologies, and analytical frameworks. Implement best practices and leverage technology to enhance efficiency and accuracy in financial analysis and reporting.


Analyze cost structures and cost drivers within the market area to identify areas of inefficiency or opportunities for cost reduction. Work closely with operational teams to implement cost-saving initiatives while maintaining safety, quality, and service levels.


Collaborate with various departments such as sales, marketing, operations, and finance to gather data, validate assumptions, and align financial strategies with overall business objectives. Serve as a financial advisor and provide support to other departments as needed.


Participate, facilitate, and interpret for senior management operating results that include but are not limited to budget goals, cost reduction efforts, corporate initiatives, and other identified opportunities for improvement.


Provide creative alternatives and recommendations to reduce costs and improve financial performance.


Performs other job-related duties as assigned.


Skills


Proven proficiency in spreadsheets, databases and financial software applications

Excellent reporting, presenting and communication skills

Understanding of generally accepted accounting principles

Ability to work with large datasets

Strategic thinking and organizational skills

Attention to accuracy and detail required

Proven analytical and financial modeling skills

Effective written and verbal communication

Ability to persuade senior stakeholders

Strong problem solving and creative skills and the ability to exercise sound judgment and make decisions based on accurate and timely analyses.


Qualifications:

Education: bachelor’s degree, preferably with a major in finance, accounting, economics or statistics

Proven experience working as a financial analyst, preferably with 3-5 years of experience

Previous experience in logistics or waste industries preferred

Previous experience with capital expenditures, budgeting and forecasting required
