Senior Hydrogeologist

John Shomaker & Associates, Inc. (JSAI) has an opening for a Senior Hydrogeologist that will be involved with managing JSAI projects and clients, performing analysis of environmental and water resource related data, preparing reports, and marketing of services. JSAI projects include water planning, environmental, surface water investigations, groundwater flow models, well site construction and management services, data collection, pumping tests, sampling, and the like. The primary duties include assisting Principals with projects for a wide range of clients in New Mexico and Texas. The ideal candidate should have groundwater flow modeling experience and possess a professional demeanor so they can effectively interact with Managing Principals, Staff, and clients.

Responsibilities

  • Manage individual projects and required staff from start to finish
  • Perform hydrogeologic analysis of data using analytical methods, numerical models, and other methods, and develop technically sound conclusions and recommendations
  • Field work and data collection related to hydrogeologic evaluations and water well projects
  • Manage and perform surface water and groundwater data collection projects
  • Assist with field work related to environmental projects
  • Geologic mapping and locating hydrologic features
  • Development and maintenance of databases
  • Generation of technical reports including conclusions and recommendations
  • Technical presentations to clients
  • Seek out new clients, develop proposals and cost estimates, develop and maintain good relations with clients
  • Responsible for project budgets
  • Technical work with office computers, network system, and software
  • Other duties as required or as assigned by Managing Principals

Qualifications

  • B.S in Geology, Hydrogeology, or water resource related field with 10 yrs experience and PG License, or M.S. in Geology, Hydrogeology, or water resource related field with 9 yrs experience and PG license or certification from professional organization(s)

·        U.S. Citizen or Permanent Resident status and Valid Driver’s License

·        Train and manage staff in a way that is encouraging and facilitates learning

·        Ability to work with all JSAI personnel to accomplish project goals

·        Basic understanding of construction industry and ability to use hand tools

·        Able to develop and maintain client base, and complete projects on time and on budget

·        Working knowledge of Microsoft Office software (excel and WORD), MODFLOW, etc

·        Perform out-of-town work (as personal schedule allows)

·        Must be able to safely lift 50 lbs

·        Health and Safety training (HAZWOPER, MSHA, etc)

  • Strong ability to multitask

Salary range $85,000 to $120,000. Full-time position with eligibility for benefits and profit sharing.
