Infection Control Nurse, RN

Base Pay: $42.39 - $47.39
Differentials offered for evening, night and weekend shifts
Primary Responsibilities:
-Will direct and coordinate the infection control program for employees and residents, including monitoring and surveillance activities.
-Will provide education to all staff.
-Will chair the Infection Control Committee and maintain compliance with CDC, DPH, JCAHO and Local Board of Health standards.
- Conducts resident rounds, reporting problems to nursing supervisor and initiating corrective action
- Performs comprehensive assessments of each resident on unit
- Reviews and approves admission and re-admission nursing assessments completed by an LPN
- Develops care plan based on each resident's assessment
- Renders immediate assistance to any resident in need
- Supervise and evaluate all direct resident care and initiates corrective action as necessary
- Provides clinical supervision of nursing assistants providing direct patient care
- Assumes responsibility for compliance with federal, state and local regulations within the assigned unit
- Counsels nursing assistants and communicates clearly with Clinical Nurse Managers and/or Director of Nursing if issues arise
- Collaborates with interdisciplinary team to assure that high quality resident care is maintained
- Prepares nurse assistant assignments and explains all pertinent resident care
Prerequisites:
- Graduate of an accredited Registered Nurse school of nursing
- Current and active RN license in the state of Massachusetts
- Current certification in Basic Cardiac Life Support in accordance with AHS or ARC standards
- Knowledge of Geriatric Nursing required
-Must have or will need to complete upon hire, the CDC Infection Preventionist Certification program.
