Position can be based in the following locations:Atlanta, GABoston, MAChicago, ILManhattan, NYWest Hartford, CTThe AVP, Team Manager Miscellaneous Professional Liability is a first line manager responsible for the delivery of team objectives by developing, managing, and motivating engaged, high-performing claims professionals. The AVP combines excellent technical claims handling, people management, and leadership skills. AVP's provide managerial support, guidance and mentorship to their assigned team. This person also:Manages team of 5-7 Claim Professionals handling Miscellaneous Professional Liability claimsDrives team engagement, development, performance, and growthDrives Key Performance Indicators and adherence to Hiscox USA Best Practices through managerial diary and file reviewsParticipates in all Quality Assurance activities including monthly reviews and calibrationsUtilizes data to determine action-planning and coaching opportunitiesReviews coverage analyses and coaches accordinglyDrives litigation management behaviors within assigned team including strategy, cost analysis, and overall exposureIdentifies and provides solutions for key issues and trends to senior leadersAllocates new incoming claims, re-opened claims, and escalations due to severityActs as the escalation point for customers and brokersPart of the Claims Leadership Team. Opportunity to participate in leadership presentationsAssists Director/VP in preparing and presenting reserve recommendations and claims trendsTakes an active role in the Claims/UW/Actuarial feedback loopPlays an active role in performance management, recruitment and on-boardingOpportunity to participate in Claims wide action-planning, collaboration with peersAbility to manage through and pivot with changePerson specification:10+ years of claims handling experience.A JD from an ABA accredited law school may be considered as a supplement to claims handling experienceBachelor's degree required. JD preferred.5+ years of Professional Liability claims experience. Miscellaneous Professional Liability is a must.3+ years of Claims management experience.
