Network Technician

Reporting to the IS Network Manager, the Network Technician is part of a team responsible for operating and maintaining the organization's IT infrastructure, ensuring the reliability, performance, and security of networks throughout the enterprise. This includes local area networks (LANs), wide area networks (WANs), and organizational intranets. The Network Technician accomplishes these responsibilities by monitoring network performance, conducting testing, identifying root causes of performance issues, and collecting data to promote maximum security and reliability. Oversees and supports daily administration of the organization's network and server environment. Maintains physical components of networks, including cables, switches, routers, and other network devices. Supports and implements the designs of networking and telecommunication infrastructure, and supports network equipment such as: routers, firewalls, switches, circuits, servers, racks, and any other relevant hardware. Maintains hardware and software such as: servers (physical and virtual), virtualization platform, VOIP phones, firewalls, and any other relevant hardware and software. Maintains all remote connections to the organization via VPN, telehealth, virtual desktops, and other network devices. Monitors and tests network performance, prepares reports, and troubleshoots network performance issues. Configures network devices according to appropriate security standards, monitors security measures in place, and resolves security issues as necessary. Manages licenses for servers and software. Ensures all network hardware is patched and updated, coordinating maintenance and downtime as necessary Supports help desk staff with tickets related to network issues. Set up and configure network protocols, IP addressing, and VLANs to optimize network performance and security. Perform regular backups and disaster recovery procedures for network infrastructure. Maintain accurate records of network configurations, changes, and troubleshooting activities. Managing the physical data closets for deployments and proper maintenance of the environment. Other duties as assigned by the organization. Education: Associate degree in computer science, networking, or related IT field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience is required. Relevant certification (CCNA, Network+, Microsoft) is preferred. Experience Three (1) years of experience in managing networks and IT infrastructure is required or other relevant experience. Hospital or healthcare experience is preferred. The kind of position-related experience includes: Knowledge of computer hardware, network, and peripheral. Knowledge of industry standard networking products like Aruba, Cisco, Palo Alto, Fortinet, Brocade. Familiarity with network monitoring tools (e.g., Wireshark, OpManager, PRTG) and security protocols (e.g., SSL/TLS, IPSec). Knowledge of VOIP phone deployment and voicemail setup. Knowledge of various cable types. Excellent network, server, and PC troubleshooting skills. Excellent network analysis fundamentals. Strong technical, analytical, and problem-solving skills. Strong communication skills, written and verbal are required. Customer service and interpersonal skills needed for working with clinicians and coworkers. Ability to communicate effectively about complex matters with others who have varying levels of education. Ability to work under pressure and on multiple projects at once. Ability to meet aggressive deadlines. Advanced skill level with MS Office. Physical Demands: Ability to push/pull objects less than 35 pounds; perform simple manipulative skills such as writing, collating, and grasping objects; perform tasks that require eye-hand coordination such as operating computers and keyboarding skills; perform gross motor coordination such as reaching, turning, and moving about; be mobile and move from one place to another; hearing normal sounds with some background noise; hearing normal sounds with some background noise, perform moderately difficult manipulative skills; see objects closely.
