Financial Analyst IIISalary: $63,264.76 - $76,945.70 AnnuallyLocation: HoustonJob Type: Full TimeJob Number: 37557Department: Houston Public WorksReporting Location: 611 Walker St.; 24th FloorWorkdays & Hours: Monday Friday/8:00 a.m. 5:00 p.m.* *Subject to changeDescription of Duties/Essential Functions:Assists in coordinating the development and implementation of a variety of financial policies, programs, techniques and analyses to effectively prepare budgets and special projects.Process & Capitalize Vehicle and Other Purchase AssetsProcess and Retire Vehicle and Controlled Assets DisposalsReview and Process Surplus and Salvage ReportCoordinate Annual Physical Inventory and Facilities InsurancePrepare documents for purchase asset audit selectionsCreate and reconcile year-end accrualsPerform other duties and special projects as requestedCreate journal entries as neededWorking Conditions:The office environment is physically comfortable and has no major sources of discomfort; the individual has discretion about walking, standing, etc. There are occasional periods of stooping, bending, and be able to lift 40 pounds. This is a Houston Public Works Emergency Management position at the Tier III Level.Minimum Requirements:Educational Requirements:Requires a Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration or a closely related field.Experience Requirements:Four (4) years of professional experience in finance, economics, budget analysis or a closely related field are required. Experience cannot be substituted for the Bachelor's degree requirement. A Master's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration or a closely related field may be substituted for two years of the above experience requirement.License Requirements:NonePreferences:Bachelor's or master's degree in Accounting/Finance. A Certified Public Account (CPA) license or a CPA candidate applicant. Experience working with governmental accounting practices. Strong background and knowledge in financial statement preparation, asset management accounting, and SAP experience Proficiency in Microsoft Office products (Excel, Word, and PowerPoint). Strong written and verbal communication skills.General Information:Selection/Skills Tests Required:None However, the department may administer a skill assessment evaluation.Safety Impact Position:NoIf yes, this position is subject to random drug testing and if a promotional position, candidate must pass an assignment drug test.Salary Information:Factors used in determining the salary offered include the candidate's qualifications as well as the pay rates of other employees in this classification.
