EY's State and Local ("SALT") team is a growing practice within the organization, and you'll see that growth reflected in your career.As a Tax Senior Manager, you'll see the financial services industry by being immersed in the evolving state and local tax environment through a diverse set of experiences in serving hedge fund, private equity, banking and real estate clients.Your Key ResponsibilitiesIt's fair to say there's no average day for a State and Local Tax Senior Manager so you're likely to spend your time on a diverse array of projects, responsibilities and tasks, including state tax partnership compliance, tax planning, consulting and legislative developments. Whatever you're working on, our clients will turn to you for up-to-the-minute tax advice they can always rely on. To make that happen, you'll be working in a highly collaborative culture, where listening to and sharing information with colleagues is an essential part of the role.Analyzing an evolving portfolio of complex tax operations to provide meaningful business insightsIdentifying potential opportunities and risks and communicating these to our clientsLearning and researching current market trends, to maintain your credibility as a trusted advisorDeveloping clear, intelligent plans and approaches to improve our clients' tax activitiesResearching our clients' business operations and building long-lasting relationships to tailor your advice to their specific needsSupervising a motivated team of professionals, guaranteeing they have the skills, knowledge and opportunities to reach their full potentialSkills and Attributes for SuccessTo qualify for the role, you must have:A bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business or a related disciplineCPA, licensed Attorney or EAA minimum of 8 years professional knowledge in a broad range of state and local Income/Franchise tax processes, concepts and toolsExperience managing budgets, people and projectsA proven record of excellence in a professional services or tax organizationTechnical writing and research experience in a tax contextThe ability to prioritize when working on multiple complex projectsStrong influencing skills, and the confidence to question existing processesIdeally, you will also have:A proven record in a professional services environment or in-house experience in a wealth and asset management companyExperience and proficiency with Microsoft Excel, One Source Tax Compliance Software, Corptax, and/or Premium ProExperience in coaching and mentoring junior colleaguesAbility to adapt your work style to work with both internal and client team membersWhat We Look ForWe're interested in people with initiative who are not afraid to speak up, with a genuine desire to make things better across the business. Learn more.We offer a comprehensive compensation and benefits package where you'll be rewarded based on your performance and recognized for the value you bring to the business. The base salary range for this job in all geographic locations in the US is $132,700 to $303,200. The base salary range for New York City Metro Area, Washington State and California (excluding Sacramento) is $159,300 to $344,600. Individual salaries within those ranges are determined through a wide variety of factors including but not limited to education, experience, knowledge, skills and geography. In addition, our Total Rewards package includes medical and dental coverage, pension and 401(k) plans, and a wide range of paid time off options.Join us in our team-led and leader-enabled hybrid model. Our expectation is for most people in external, client serving roles to work together in person 40-60% of the time over the course of an engagement, project or year.Under our flexible vacation policy, you'll decide how much vacation time you need based on your own personal circumstances.
