Conservation Operations Supervisor 2Oversee crews working on several diverse projects, including the maintenance, rehabilitation, improvement, or construction, either by contract or Department of Environmental Conservation personnel, of facilities, buildings, trail systems, and recreation facilities.Assist a Conservation Operations Supervisor 3 within a working circle, and direct all maintenance activities within an assigned area or project of the working circle.Provide instructions to lower-level staff on project priorities, work schedules, equipment needs and health and safety issues.Purchase, distribute, and maintain inventories of supplies and equipment.Travel within a geographical area observing work in progress and completed for adherence to schedules, industry standards, and regulatory compliance.To be eligible for appointment under NY HELPS, candidates must meet the minimum qualifications below:Promotion: You must be a qualified employee of the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation and have had one year of permanent competitive, non-competitive, or 55-b/55-c service as follows:Conservation Operations Supervisor 1, General Mechanic, Trades Generalist, Service & Repair Assistant (Motor Equipment), Motor Equipment Maintenance Supervisor 1, Maintenance Supervisor 1 (Motor Equipment), Motor Equipment Mechanic, Service & Repair Mechanic (Motor Equipment), Sign Painter, Trades Specialist (Sign Fabrication), Sign Shop Supervisor 1, Trades Supervisor (Sign Fabrication), Supervisor Marine Equipment Repair, or Maintenance Supervisor 1 (Marine Equipment).Open Competitive: Either three years of experience in building maintenance, mechanical maintenance, or construction; one year of which must have been in estimating, supervising, and planning and assigning work.
