We are looking for a Retail Packaging Developer (Temp to perm) for a top fashion company in New York City. This position will be located fully onsite in their New York office.


  • Salary: $80K - $90K (hourly equivalent, based on level of experience)


Responsibilities:


  • Drive and manage all phases of packaging research and development with an emphasis on forward aesthetic and strategic thinking to determine direction for future seasons while driving the business forward
  • Bring packaging innovation to the table whether from vendors or the market
  • Oversee developments adhering to calendar deliverables
  • Partner with Packaging designers and Design for Packaging fit dimensions with overseas vendors
  • Applies knowledge of processes, equipment and system capability to set challenging individual and area standards
  • Maintain company process with vendors & packaging suppliers
  • Troubleshoot issues & escalate to Manager when appropriate
  • Develop strong working relationships with vendors in partnership with cross functional teams to ensure materials development meets brand aesthetic
  • Update and maintain vendor matrix
  • Partner with Manager to drive & Improve process for Development and production
  • Improve company sustainability for packaging, PDQ’s and displays
  • Must understand Color management L.AB. Values, packaging materials and dielines.
  • Source and evaluate packaging for visual and structural needs and communicating findings daily to packaging suppliers.
  • Review and understand material specifications to maintain quality, structural integrity, and color Provide clear communication and comments to vendors
  • Management of packaging. Must understand L.A.B values and how to measure color.
  • Review Per-Production Digital & physical submits under the supervision of Packaging Design
  • Oversee and maintain management of raw material and packaging libraries to support seasonal inspiration and core product


Required Qualifications:


  • Bachelor’s degree preferably in related field, Packaging Development, Industrial Design
  • 5-7 years’ experience in packaging development or industrial engineering
  • Proficient understanding of global packaging knowledge
  • Exposure to global print factories and vendors
  • Strong Knowledge of color management and Spectro densitometer
  • Proficiency in Mac and PC
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong Adobe Creative Suite skill
  • Working knowledge of PLM, a plus
  • Packaging and POS displays knowledge in Apparel and socks, a plus
