Job Responsibilities

  • Support King Steel operations and sales with metallurgical and quality related guidance
  • Manage all lab activities and material certification in the facility
  • Supervise lab personnel
  • Assure plant stays compliant with ISO and AIAG CQI-9 requirements
  • Work with all employees to ensure customer requirements are met
  • Monitor, design, and continuously improve plant processes
  • Conduct metallurgical studies related to internal processes and finish products
  • Review customer inquiries for manufacturing feasibility
  • Participate in customer complaint resolution
  • Assist in management of raw material and external processing suppliers
  • Participate in plant 5S initiatives

 

Qualifications (Required)

  • BS or MS in Metallurgy, Materials Science, Mechanical, Chemical or related engineering discipline from an ABET accredited university
  • Minimum of 2 years experience as a Metallurgist, Metallurgical Engineer, Materials Engineer or related role
  • Practical experience with metallurgical testing and related equipment (tensile testing, hardness testing, metallography)
  •  Be a self-starter and exhibit high motivation for continuous improvement
  • High level communication skills

 

Qualifications (Preferred)

  • Knowledge of steel heat treatment processes and process design
  • Understanding of steel manufacturing and related processes
  • Experience interpreting ASTM and other industry standards
  • Knowledge of automotive APQP and PPAP processes
  •  Prior supervisory experience
  • Bilingual (Spanish)
