Part-Time Facilities Maintenance Worker/Facilities EscortWe are searching for a Part-Time Facilities Maintenance Worker/Facilities Escort to join our Project Delivery Division in Engineering Services at the Applied Research Laboratory (ARL) at Penn State to support capital facilities improvements by acting as a facilities, security, and safety liaison between contractors and ARL.You will:Escort outside contractors and Technical Service employees from other work units that are performing work at ARL that is Technical Service in natureServe as a work site liaison with ARL Security to ensure visitor logs and all necessary security paperwork are kept current and reflect maintenance, renovation, or services being performed to buildings, infrastructure, grounds, and/or equipmentVerify all outside contractors working at ARL are United States citizens and have no electronic and digital devices, per ARL security guidelinesConduct continuous observations for security and safety concerns, facility damage, etc.; report abnormal behaviors or other unusual observances; document information as directedRespond to questions and provide general information; correspond with appropriate ARL Facilities contact for resolution of questions, concerns, and other facility or operational issuesMaintain knowledge of ARL Security practices and proceduresAssist higher graded technical-service employees by performing basic labor tasks such as providing "helping hands" (i.e., team lift, handing/holding tools and parts, helping set-up equipment, and general cleaning of work area)Operate University vehicles as requiredRequired skills/experience areas include:Success in an environment where communication skills were crucial to be effectiveYou may need to travel to ARL satellite locations periodically; a valid PA Driver's License and ability to operate a motor vehicle will be requiredPreferred skills/experience areas include:Current eligibility for access to classified information at the Secret level or higher and may be subject to a government background investigation to upgrade clearance eligibility, if requiredYour working location will be fully on-site, located in State College, PA.
