Chief Estimator

The Chief Estimator is the primary member of the estimating team who has overall responsibility for the creation of quality budgets, plans and schedules.

• Responsible for the oversight of the estimating process for all projects bid and awarded, and will maintain standardized procedures, methods and processes for estimating.
• Responsible for supervising one or more lead estimators across multiple states.
• Create and oversee analysis of past performance on projects and establish estimating standards for all future estimates.
• Update and maintain the historical cost database, bid management system, and estimating software databases.
• Design and implement procedures, processes, and techniques for the successful execution of all technical estimating functions.
• Organize and lead the bid review process to confirm bids are accurate and to instruct the team on best practices when necessary.
• Prepare project-specific Risk Registers portraying potential impact on Weiss’s anticipated profits. Provide strategies to help mitigate identified risks.
• Reviews project plans and specifications and coordinates with the team to confirm complete scope.
• Prepares project budgets.
• Actively participates in industry, client and community relations to enhance company image.
• Works collaboratively and creates relationships with a variety of stakeholders, such as project team members, subcontractors, vendors, clients, and designers.
• Supports vendor/subcontractor pricing/bid solicitation and coordination.
• All other duties assigned.

Requirements

• BS Construction, Engineering, or related degree.
• At least 10 years’ relevant experience
• Proficient in using estimating software.
