We have an exciting opportunity for a part time Registered Nurse (RN) to join our team of talented professionals. Primary hours will be Tuesdays/Thursdays from 8:30am to 4:30 pm Please note this is a short-term position with an anticipated end date of August/September 2024. We have a market-based compensation structure. The estimated salary for this position will vary based on a candidate's transferable work experience and qualifications. This is a salary grade 110. Hourly rates start at $35.25.
This is a pediatric position at the Kids-TALK CAC Medical Clinic where the primary focus is completing examinations on children when there are allegations of abuse. The Kids-TALK Children’s Advocacy Center (CAC) provides children and their families impacted by abuse with everything they need to heal and move toward the bright futures they deserve. We bring together specially trained professionals to support and surround children and families with hope and healing. Kids-TALK CAC helps build a strong future for children and ultimately the entire community. Throughout Wayne County, the Kids-TALK CAC serves children through age 17 and their protective family members at two child-friendly facilities in Southgate and Detroit
As a Registered Nurse (RN) in the Kids-TALK CAC Program, you will be responsible for the following:
- Triage patients/cases to determine if a medical evaluation is required and the required timeline for completion.
- Complete nursing assessments including medical/nursing history.
- Participate in medical evaluations of children and youth, including utilizing a colposcope, positioning of the patient and testing for sexually transmitted infections.
- Work with CAC and MDT to deliver comprehensive services to children and their families as part of the Multidisciplinary Team model.
- Maintain documentation and statistics as required by national guidelines, the National Children’s Alliance Standards and funders.
- Participate in Case Review, team meetings, and supervision as requested.
- Complete 25 hours of nursing and/or child maltreatment training on an annual basis to ensure knowledge of the latest evidence-based guidelines and recommendations.
- Follow professional code of ethics, state standards and practice within the scope of the position.
- Other duties as assigned.
To qualify for this position, you will need the following:
- Must have an associate degree in nursing, bachelor’s degree in nursing preferred.
- Must possess and retain a current license as a Registered Nurse in the State of Michigan.
- Must have two (2) years of training and experience in the field of pediatric nursing.
- Candidates with experience in conducting medical evaluations of children and youth who are the suspected victims of child maltreatment, including the use of a colposcope are priority candidates.
- Valid driver’s license and favorable driving record is required.
- Additional requirements include: a nonjudgmental approach that reflects cultural competency and sensitivity to the unique needs and diverse experiences of individual families, the ability to develop collaborative relationships the Multidisciplinary Team, effective interpersonal communication skills, the ability to assess and intervene within complex family and community systems, and a willingness to be flexible, patient and creative.
