Controller PositionWe are looking for an experienced Controller to join our higher education institution in Brooklyn, New York. The ideal candidate will bring extensive expertise in accounting and financial management, demonstrating a strong ability to oversee operations and lead a team. This role is integral to ensuring accurate financial reporting, compliance, and strategic collaboration across departments.Responsibilities:Direct the organization's accounting functions, including general ledger management, accounts payable and receivable, investment accounting, and reporting for endowments and restricted funds.Oversee month-end and year-end closing processes to ensure timely and accurate preparation of financial statements.Act as the primary contact for external auditors and lead all annual audits, including compliance and retirement plan audits.Implement, monitor, and refine internal controls, policies, and financial procedures to maintain operational integrity.Ensure precise reconciliation of balance sheet accounts, subledgers, and bank and investment accounts, while adhering to bond covenants.Support reporting and presentations for the Board and various committees, providing clear financial insights.Supervise and guide the finance team, fostering attention to detail and accountability.Work collaboratively with departments such as Advancement, Financial Aid, and Operations to ensure accurate fund tracking and support institutional planning initiatives.Requirements:Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.CPA preferred.10+ years Accounting experience.Experience from the Education/Non-Profit industry.Strong Team Management/Leadership experience.
