About the Company: The C.W. Williams Community Health Center, Inc. is a non-profit organization dedicated to meeting the expectations and requirements of the CHC mission, to provide quality services in a supportive environment to all people.


About the Role: Dental Hygienist participates in the and implementation of dental efforts. They are primarily responsible for assisting all dentists and dental assistants in all dental tasks. The dental assistant will operate as the receptionist when needed.


Responsibilities:


  • In keeping with North Carolina Statutes and training: Clean teeth and examine oral areas, head, and neck for signs of oral disease.
  • Educate patients on oral hygiene and after care for dental treatments rendered
  • Provide other preventative dental care and work chairside as needed, with the dentist during examinations and treatment
  • Take and develop x-rays or apply fluoride or sealants
  • Remove sutures
  • Polish fillings and other metal restorations
  • Take and record medical history and medications lists
  • Apply fluorides and other cavity preventing agents to arrest dental decay
  • Examine gums, using probes, to locate periodontal recessed gums and signs of gum disease
  • Provide clinical services and health education to improve and maintain oral health of school children.
  • Make impressions for study casts
  • Administer local anesthetic agents
  • Participate in outreach activities to market dental services rendered at C.W. Williams Community Health Center, Inc. and educate the public of the importance of preventive dental care and the association of dental health with overall health


Requirements:


  • Graduate from an accredited School of Dental Hygiene
  • Associate degree, minimum
  • Completion of certification requirements as dictated by the American Dental Association’s Joint Commission on National Dental Examinations
  • Good vision and excellent manual dexterity and arm-hand steadiness
  • Hygienist license in the State of North Carolina
  • Good interpersonal skills; ability to communicate clearly with patients.
  • Excellent clinical skills.
  • Excellent computer skills
  • The ability to work independently, and handle multiple priorities and tasks.
  • The ability to work effectively with persons of varying degrees of education and professional expertise in a multi-disciplinary team setting.
  • Clinical background and 1-5 years’ experience is desirable.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, ability to communicate and manage well at all levels of the organization and with staff at remote locations essential.
  • Strong problem solving and creative skills and the ability to exercise sound judgment and make decisions based on accurate and timely analyses.
  • High level of integrity and dependability with a strong sense of urgency and results-orientation.
