BTS Field Manager will oversee the construction of small cell sites by Nokia partners.


This role requires a strong understanding of site construction (site walks, installation, and acceptance), commissioning, integration, and the ability to troubleshoot hardware and software systems. Responsibilities include managing the installation of 4G and 5G components, RF cabling, AC/DC wiring, telecommunications equipment, fiber optics, and conducting overall system testing.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Supervise the installation of 4G/5G antennas, mounting hardware, RF fiber, AC/DC power cables, associated panels, and terminals.
  • Support troubleshooting activities, particularly with RF and fiber optic cables and connections.
  • Oversee the installation of radio cabinets, DC power systems, and telecommunications equipment.
  • Ensure safe operation and knowledge of aerial lift equipment (e.g., bucket trucks).
  • Interpret and execute engineering work plans.
  • Ensure all partners adhere to safety guidelines, especially when working at heights or with power.
  • Follow state and federal safety regulations (OSHA, local vendor standards, etc.) while maintaining efficiency.
  • Ensure compliance with local building standards and regulations during site construction.
  • Perform supplier management tasks, including crew capacity oversight, rollout schedules, payment verification, and quality management.
  • Conduct daily interlock meetings with suppliers, validate technical site surveys, scoping packages, and bill of materials.
  • Coordinate equipment repair and return processes.
  • Verify site quality throughout implementation and acceptance phases.
  • Approve or reject site acceptance documentation using the appropriate tools.
  • Validate and approve change requests, including scope changes.
  • Oversee installation, commissioning, operations, integration, and maintenance of cabinets.
  • Provide accurate and comprehensive reporting on all project activities.
  • Ensure timely submission of closeout data.
  • Install, maintain, and repair radio access nodes and core network transmission equipment on operational telecommunications networks.
  • Collaborate with other technicians and the customer’s technical staff.
  • Install, commission, and align microwave equipment.
  • Understand and implement RAN, RF, and transmission designs.
  • Basic knowledge of antenna and RF configuration at cell sites.
  • Ensure proper grounding and safe connection methods for electrical voltages.
  • Interpret blueprints, diagrams, and manufacturer specifications to ensure proper equipment installation.
  • Apply knowledge of fiber tags, wax string, CX, RBS, WCDMA.
  • Maintain and implement health and safety standards.
  • Follow detailed verbal and written instructions.
  • Willingness to travel and work outdoors in all weather conditions as needed.

Other Requirements:

  • Valid driver’s license.
  • Minimum of two years of experience in network rollout or a wireless industry discipline.
  • IC&I and troubleshooting experience in UMTS, LTE, WCDMA, CDMA, and GSM (certifications are a plus).
  • Electrical training with some telecommunications experience.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, Word).
  • Strong decision-making and problem-solving skills.
  • Knowledge of microwave and fiber transmission concepts.
  • Flexibility with working hours and travel, including overnight stays.
  • Understanding of client network topologies and associated Radio Access Networks (RAN) and Optical/Microwave transmission infrastructure.
  • Experience with the integration and troubleshooting of cabinets and rack-mounted equipment.
