Building Custodian I - South FloaterPerforms custodial maintenance and cleaning within the school building; Performs semi-skilled work in cleaning and maintenance of school buildingsEssential DutiesPerforms work necessary to maintain the building and grounds in an acceptable conditionCleans light fixtures, windows, walls, furniture, bleachers, blinds and stadiumUtilizes various equipment for scrubbing, buffing and waxing floorsCleans, disinfects, and restocks assigned restroomsPrepares for and cleans up after events scheduled in the school building during the day and/or at nightOperates carpet cleaning and maintenance equipmentMoves furniture and equipment within the building as required for various activities as directed by head custodian or principalMaintains appearance of grounds, including shrubs, grass, parking areas and drivesResponds to staff requests/concerns in a timely mannerPerforms minor repairs as may be requiredPerforms other duties as assigned by the appropriate administratorRequired EducationNone requiredCertification/LicensureNone requiredExperience QualificationsMinimum of 1 year of custodial experience preferredKnowledge/Skills/AbilitiesKnowledge of cleaning methods, supplies, and appropriate use of supplies and equipmentAbility to operate various equipment used for cleaning floors and carpetsMust be able to understand and follow directions both written and verbalWorking ConditionsRegular exposure to weather including heat, cold, dampness, and/or humidityPhysical DemandsTypically requires climbing ladders; pushing and/or pullingMust have sufficient strength and manual dexterity to operate equipment used to clean floors and carpetsMust be able to lift, push, and/or pull in excess of 50 poundsMust be able to stand, crouch, and climb to use ladders and perform various types of manual labor
