Must Haves:

  • B.S. degree in chemistry, biochemistry, or related field with 4 years lab experience.
  • 3+ years of experience with liquid chromatography-mass spectrometry
  • 1+ years of experience with quantitative chemical analysis
  • Experience with establishing ISO 17025 (accredited methods)
  • MassLynx experience
  • Excellent laboratory experimentation and data analysis skills.
  • Good organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent interpersonal & project management skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Ability to build strong customer/client relationships.


Plusses:

  • Solid phase extraction experience (sample prep technique).



Day to Day:

Insight Global is seeking a temporary Analytical Scientist to join an established Food and Beverage company in Glenview, IL. This position involves applying foundational knowledge of chemistry, biochemistry, chromatography and mass spectrometry. The industrial challenges are to measure and characterize small molecules to biopolymers in areas such as ingredient authenticity and provenance; off-flavors and taints; optimization of ingredients; food safety threats such as pathogens; allergens; and composition and stability of natural ingredients. This is an ideal opportunity for a laboratory-focused scientist who enjoys integrating laboratory findings into cohesive explanations of what is happening at the molecular level in food ingredients and processing. The successful candidate will develop project objectives and strategies in response to business initiatives, executing against same and recommending action plans to implement key findings. The candidate will have a significant impact on direction and quality of work done by other senior technical people. The candidate should have aptitudes for the application and maintenance of complex analytical instrumentation. The candidate will be evaluated on communication skills and potential for demonstrating technical leadership within a scientifically and culturally diverse organization. They will collaborate with internal clients, including R&D and potentially plant personnel. They will also interact with equipment/instrument manufacturers, external lab partners, suppliers.



Compensation:

$60/hr to $100/hr.


Exact compensation may vary based on several factors, including skills, experience, and education.
