The Occupational Medicine Clinical Assistant (OMCA) works collaboratively within a team environment to perform a wide range of clinical, administrative, and on-site specimen collection duties. Under supervision, the OMCA collects medical history information, conducts initial assessments of work-related injuries, prepares patients for evaluation, fits and dispenses durable medical equipment, administers pre-employment drug screens, and initiates DOT and pre-placement examinations using established criteria. The OMCA supports Occupational Medicine providers by maintaining accurate patient records, coordinating follow-up care, and assisting with required documentation. This role also communicates effectively with patients and employers to provide timely information and ensure continuity of care, and participates in on-site specimen collection services at employer locations or within clinic settings. This is a casual position and will require flexibility to float to all MOH locations (Eagan, Shakopee, St. Paul, Woodbury and Coon Rapids). Monday - Friday schedule with variable start times (5:00 AM - 9:00 AM). This position also requires occasional weekend/holiday coverage. Primary duties: Measure patient statistics and vitals, including height, weight, blood pressure, eye evaluations or performing a urine analysis dip. Record patient medical history. Prepare patient for a physical evaluation. Prepare required instruments and equipment for physical examinations. Clean and stock exam/procedure rooms, including instruments and equipment, between patient visits. Assist provider, as needed, with various procedures. Assist with fitting and dispensing of Durable Medical Equipment (DME) as appropriate, and as directed by provider. Provide standardized patient education instructions verbal or written. Perform urine drug screens (on-site client locations as needed). Collect specimens following established standards and procedures Perform patient testing, including fit testing, audiometry, and work simulations. Perform clerical duties as assigned, including manage patient charts to ensure accuracy and completion, sending and receiving patient medical records, obtaining lab and x-ray reports and completing and sending employer paperwork. Schedule follow-up appointments and verifying insurance coverage / patient demographics. Order prescription refills, as needed. On call Monday-Thursday and/or Weekends Performs other duties as assigned Summit's hiring range for this position is $19.65 to $24.57 per hour. The hired candidate may be eligible to receive additional compensation in the form of bonuses, differentials and/or deferred compensation.
