How You Will Do It

  • Lead US federal tax audits, including managing the day-to-day interactions with the IRS.
  • Work with the CFO, members of the tax team, and external counsel in developing strategies, advocating for the company’s positions, and successfully resolving examinations, appeals, and litigation matters.
  • Partner with key stakeholders, including Tax, Treasury, Legal, Finance/Accounting, IT, and others, to assess audit risk, establish or update the company’s tax positions, and respond to inquiries from tax authorities.
  • Conduct legal research and analysis on a variety of complex US, international, and transfer pricing matters.
  • Support key global tax controversy matters, ensuring coordination and consistency across jurisdictions.
  • Assist in the development of strategies and process improvements to identify, quantify, and track global tax risks.
  • Directly manage other members of the controversy team and oversee other professionals working on global tax audits in a matrixed environment.
  • Provide direction to global tax planning, transfer pricing, and compliance teams to minimize risk and enhance audit readiness.


What We Look For

  • 10+ years of tax experience with a law firm, accounting firm, and/or company operating in a complex, global environment.
  • JD/LLM and admission to at least one state bar strongly preferred.
  • Solid understanding of fundamental US and international tax and transfer pricing concepts.
  • Experience managing US federal tax audits and appeals required; exposure to US state and non-US audits preferred.
  • Experience managing other professionals preferred.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to clearly communicate complex legal and tax concepts and effectively advocate for the company’s positions.
  • Strong organizational skills, with the ability to manage and prioritize numerous projects and competing deadlines.
  • Ability to maintain strong working relationships with internal stakeholders, external advisors, and tax authorities across the globe.
