City Engineer

Under the supervision of the Public Works & Utilities Director, the City Engineer performs engineering design, project management, construction inspection, administrative, and supervisory duties in addition to preparing design specifications, construction estimates, bid documents, grant applications, and budget recommendations. Other functions include consultant selection, preparing and reviewing reports, coordinating bridge inspections, updating city maps, monitoring expenditures, assisting with capital improvement planning, and coordinating the work of contracted firms, construction contractors, and surveyors. The City Engineer supervises the work of one full-time technician.

Education: Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering; licensed professional engineer in the State of Kansas within 6 months of employment; KDOT Inspector Certification within 12 months of employment.

Experience: Two or more years of professional engineering experience including proficiency with Microsoft Office and AutoCAD. Experience with KDOT grant funding programs is preferred.
