SummaryThe Logistics Specialist is accountable is responsible for securing efficient transportation solutions from various sources, including the company fleet and third-party carriers, to fulfill customer demands while adhering to profitability goals.
Key Responsibilities- Oversee and manage daily transportation operations, such as scheduling, routing, and dispatching trucks, to ensure the prompt delivery of both raw and processed potato products across North America.
- Engagement and collaboration for effective and regular communication with Customer Service, Deployment, and Warehousing and other teams, to ensure they are informed on operations, activities, developments and changes that impact the various areas within the supply chain.
- Cultivate and sustain strong relationships and partnerships with transportation service providers.
- Monitor transportation costs, budgets, and performance against service standards and operational targets.
- Utilize Transportation Management Systems for assigning loads to carriers and monitoring the progress of shipments to ensure deliveries are made on schedule.
- Resolve transportation challenges that arise, including delays, accidents, or equipment breakdowns.
- Rotational after hours support for resolving urgent trucking related issues.
- Prepare reports and presentations on transportation activities.
- Collaborate with carriers to obtain rates and ensure capacity for urgent shipments is obtained.
- Collaborate with pricing team to validate and process transportation related expenses.
- Process trucking claims associated with cargo damage, property damage and other trucking liabilities.
- Monitor and ensure that carrier insurance is current and processed per established procedures.
- Training team members in relevant updated processes.
• Experience in a warehouse / logistics environment
• Ability to motivate and engage team members to meet the team’s objectives
