Sr Accountant, Gen AccountingThis position is responsible for applying accounting techniques and complex practices to the classification and recording of financial transactions in support of a complete and accurate financial close cycle. This role will be responsible for assisting with the monthly accounting of transportation costs, duties and tariffs assessed, and distribution center expenses. The position will also play a critical role in preparing and reviewing various store-level accruals to ensure accuracy and compliance with company policies and deadlines.Essential Duties and Responsibilities (Min 5%)Prepare complex journal entries according to Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) or other regulatory requirements and prepare key monthly financial closing reports.Analyze and review financial information to ensure accuracy and completeness of accounts, such as general ledger accounts, income statements and balance sheets, to prepare detailed account reconciliations and to identify unusual trends or variances.Establish, maintain, and coordinate the implementation of accounting and accounting control procedures.Advise, mentor, and provide feedback to entry level positions.Research and respond to inquiries from the Company's internal and external audit functions.Collaborate with teams external to accounting function (e.g., FP&A, business partners) to ensure thorough understanding of current events that may impact areas.Required QualificationsExperience: 3 - 5 years of experience in an industry accounting, public accounting, or internal auditing role. Previous experience in a retail environment and use of SAP is a plus. Experience with Alteryx, Power BI, TM1, or Tableau is a plus but not required.Education: Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related field is preferred. Any suitable combination of education and experience will be considered.Professional Certifications: Certified Public Accountant (CPA) certification or CPA candidate preferred.Preferred Knowledge, Skills or AbilitiesExtensive knowledge of SEC requirements, GAAP and new accounting pronouncements.Proficiency in using Microsoft Office with advanced skills in Excel.Ability to analyze expense trends, variances, and reconciliations to ensure accuracy of financial results.Comfortable working with recurring monthly deadlines and able to prioritize multiple tasks effectively.Strong interpersonal skills to work with supply chain, finance, and operations teams, and to present findings clearly.Interest in streamlining recurring journal entries, accrual, and reconciliation processes for greater efficiency.Working ConditionsHybrid / Flexible working conditionsPhysical RequirementsSittingStanding (not walking)WalkingLifting up to 10 poundsDisclaimerThis job description represents an overview of the responsibilities for the above referenced position.
