Role Description

This is a part-time on-site role for a Pastry Cook in Burlingame, CA. The Pastry Cook will be responsible for daily baking and cooking tasks, ensuring the highest standards of hygiene and cleanliness are maintained throughout the kitchen. The Pastry Cook will also need to demonstrate creativity skills in developing and presenting pastry items. Responsibilities to include, but not necessarily limited to:

  • Collaborating with the executive chef and other chefs to plan menus.
  • Executing pastry orders for catered events and accommodating special requests.
  • Demonstrating expertise in baking bread, pastries, desserts, cakes, cookies, sweets, and pies.
  • Creating enticing confectionery decorations and delicious pastry fillings, while staying updated on new pastry baking techniques.
  • Applying traditional pastry baking techniques to prepare classic pastries.
  • Introducing innovative and delectable pastry items to our existing selection.
  • Monitoring equipment and ensuring all specialized pastry baking tools are in working order.
  • Maintaining pastry section records.
  • Must possess the ability to prioritize and follow through to meet deadlines.
  • Perform daily dry storage, walk-in refrigerator, and freezer inspections during each shift to ensure cleanliness and that all pastry related items are stored properly.


Qualifications

  • Bakery, Baking, and Cooking skills
  • Experience in maintaining hygiene and cleanliness in a kitchen environment
  • Strong creativity skills in developing and presenting pastry items
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Ability to work well in a team
  • Strong time management skills
  • Experience in event catering or similar industry is a plus
  • Culinary degree or certification is beneficial
