What you will do

  • Direct and lead the credit function for the Billows Electric territory by establishing goals against performance indicators, including aging, Day’s Sales Outstanding, and minimizing bad debt write-offs.
  • Provide monthly input to receivables forecast.
  • Develop a credit risk strategy and lead implementation across the team.
  • Initiate process improvement initiatives that support the use of technology and streamline the credit and collections process.
  • Build and maintain working relationships with sales partners as well as customers.
  • Provide input on credit investigation for potential new accounts.
  • Determine and administer other financial alternatives of payment such as, but not limited to, joint checks and letters of credit.
  • Assign and monitor credit limits to present and potential customers under established policies. Establish credit limits for individual accounts.
  • Periodically review accounts to adjust credit limits to reflect the current financial position and payment habits of the customer.
  • Determine appropriate Hold Periods for accounts to ensure that orders are not processed when perceived credit risks do not warrant additional exposure.
  • Determines when internal collections efforts are no longer effective. Recommends 3rd party collection efforts and provides enough detail to warrant referral to a 3rd party.
  • Review listings of prior year debits and credits to ensure that these items are being handled along with the usual collection efforts.
  • Reviews settlement offers and makes recommendations.

What you will bring

  • BS in Business with a concentration on Account, Finance, or other related discipline.
  • Credit experience within the NYC market, preferably in the construction industry.
  • A minimum of fifteen years of progressive experience in the credit/collections field.
  • A minimum of five years in a leadership position.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to present data for decision-making purposes

Physical Requirements and Work Environment

  • The ability to sit, stand, and walk for the full length of the assigned shift.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with demonstrated success working in teams, as well as interaction and cooperation across functions.
  • This job is performed within an office environment.
  • Travel by car and/or train to Cooper sites, as well as customers within the NJ, NY, and PA footprint is expected.

Salary Range:

Location: Delran, NJ

Work Hours: Monday - Friday, 8 a.m. - 5 p.m.
