Optical Technician

We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Optical Technician to join our team. This is an excellent opportunity for someone eager to build a career in the optical field. While no prior experience is required, any medical background or knowledge of medical terminology is a plus. You will receive in-depth training, so a strong desire to learn and attention to detail is essential.
Schedule | Monday - Friday, 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM (Weekends Off)
Pay | $16.00 - $18.00 per hour (depending on experience)
Key Responsibilities
- Open exam rooms at the start of the day, ensuring all equipment and instruments are present, calibrated, and ready for use.
- Perform and manage special testing, including visual fields, auto refraction, corneal topography, non-contact tonometry, and retinal photography.
- Room patients, take their case history, perform visual acuity (distance and near), stereopsis, and color vision testing, and assist with other pre-testing when needed.
- Enter clinical data into the electronic medical record in real-time. Ensure all required tests are completed, documented, and follow all meaningful use guidelines. Accurately enter patient-related data as relayed by the doctor
- Keep the pretesting area, special testing area, and exam rooms clean and organized, ensuring they are ready for the next patient.
- Ensure supplies are ordered in a timely manner to prevent shortages.
The ideal candidate will have a strong desire to learn, as the training is extensive and comprehensive, and the ability to multitask in a fast-paced work environment. Critical thinking, problem-solving, and a friendly, professional attitude are essential, along with excellent customer service skills. You should be comfortable working with patients of all ages and have a career-driven mindset, with a strong desire to grow and develop new skills in the optical field.
