The Network Field Technician II will be primarily responsible for the installation, monitoring, maintenance, optimization, and support of wired/wireless networking technologies of external customer network infrastructures. This position holds technical expertise related to the core components of standard wired/wireless infrastructures, management systems, wireless best practices, and optimizations. The implementation activities to be performed by the Technician include wireless design, device configuration, equipment installation, integration, implementation and migration, testing, and troubleshooting.


Key Responsibilities- Include the following: Other duties may be assigned as required to meet the corporation goals.

• Support customer network infrastructures

• Assist in the deployments and support of LAN/WAN/WLAN infrastructure

• Participate in the evaluation of vendor hardware, software, and wireless communications products

• Operational support and troubleshooting of wired/wireless network issues

• Facilitate technical support case escalation for customer wired/wireless infrastructure

• Compile documentation of advanced enterprise wired/wireless solutions and designs

• Assist with wireless design and validation, including RF site surveys of complex indoor and outdoor deployments

• Support internal wireless network infrastructure operational requirements

• Maintain professional level certifications related to wired/wireless network technologies and vendors.

• Demonstrate safe and responsible work habits in facilities to avoid injuries, damage to property, and avoid unnecessary security risks to team and company.

• Maintaining and repairing hardware including peripheral devices

• Evaluating network performance to improve the network

• Scheduling upgrades and maintenance without interrupting business workflow

• Providing technical direction and giving training to coworkers about network systems.

Must be able to lead and interface well with end-users, other service technicians, technical support personnel, and other professionals conveying information and situations in a tactful, professional, diplomatic, and logical manner.

 

Qualifications

•  Bachelors degree in computer science, Information Technology, or related field; or equivalent vocational training.

• Understanding of networking LAN, protocols and infrastructure.

• Experience with RF Technologies such as Wi-Fi, Cellular, BLE, Cellular DAS. 

• Strong problem-solving skills.

• Strong willingness to learn and be flexible with work schedules.

• Good communication skills, both written and verbal.

• Reliable transportation to travel.

• Valid driver’s license with clean driving record. 

• Clean background. No felonies or warrants.

• Able to acquire a passport and be flexible to travel to Canada, if needed.

• iBwave Design (For Public Safety and Cellular Enhancement Designs)

• Comba & ADRF Public Safety Emergency Responder Communication Enhancement (ERCE)

• Cellular Enhancement Technologies such as DAS, Small Cell, Boosters, CBRS.

 Schedule & Travel:

• Typical 8-hour work shift (9am-5pm) but may need to be flexible if needed.

• Monday to Friday

• Approximately 50% Travel

• May be required to work on weekends if on-call.

• Potential rollover travel to or from customer sites on weekends as needed.
