Journeyman Lineman

The Indiana Municipal Power Agency is a not-for-profit, wholesale electric generation and transmission company located in Carmel, Indiana. At IMPA, we support 61 communities in Indiana and Ohio through providing low-cost, reliable, and environmentally responsible electricity, as well as a variety of other services to help in the overall success of each town or city. The Operations division of IMPA Service Corp, a not-for-profit formed by IMPA, assists IMPA members ensure quality electric services to their customers. IMPA Service Corp performs construction and maintenance services, including power restoration, to IMPA communities throughout the state of Indiana.

As a member of the IMPA Service Corp Operations team, you will help the team safely install, operate and maintain the electric transmission and distribution systems for our municipal members. This is a full-time position.

What You’ll Bring to the Table:

• A workplace safety-oriented mindset.
• A Journeyman Lineman Certification, or willingness to obtain a journeyman lineman certification through IMPA’s apprenticeship training program.
• A valid driver’s license and Class A CDL, or the ability to obtain a Class A CDL.
• Thorough knowledge of power line construction and maintenance.
• An understanding of electrical and mechanical drawings.
• Ability to use hand tools, wrenches and other equipment.
• Familiarity with acceptable safety practices and OSHA requirements.
• A positive attitude, eagerness to learn, and strong organizational and interpersonal skills.

What You’ll Be Doing:

• Construct, operate and maintain both overhead and underground electric transmission and distribution systems.
• Perform your work safely and in accordance with ISC construction standards and OSHA work rules.
• Assist in training personnel from Apprentice to Journeyman Lineman.
• Ensure that all vehicles and construction equipment are operating safely and in good repair.
• Operate heavy equipment, including bucket trucks and digger derricks.
• Participate in emergency/after-hours service watch and restoration efforts.
