About the role:


We’re seeking a Senior Traffic Modeller to provide technical and practical expertise in traffic modelling and integrated transport planning.


You’ll join an innovative team, who provides traffic forecasting and related services to support the management of existing assets (roads) and the development of new projects in North America.


As our Senior Traffic Modeller, you’ll contribute to lasting and positive changes that shape the future of our cities and communities. It’s meaningful, challenging and exciting work.


Day-to-day, you will:

  • Develop, customise, enhance and/or refine traffic models, as necessary, to support existing and potential new assets.
  • Refine, implement and periodically review the strategic models and tolling algorithms within the strategic models to maintain best practice and ensure accurate forecasts of traffic and revenues.
  • Identify and assist in mitigating risks associated with traffic and revenue modelling.
  • Prepare and document models, network plans and integrated transport solutions to support project bids and other business development proposals.
  • Provide recommendations to improve traffic and revenue performance, through the application of analytical data and tools.
  • Research public and private sources to source data and improve model accuracy and predictive performance.
  • Manage relationships with external stakeholders and partners and provide information within agreed timelines.


This role will suit someone with a curious mind and transferable skills and experiences, including:

  • Proven high level skills in the development, application and interpretation of strategic network models and integrated transport planning.
  • Applied experience with all four steps of traditional strategic planning and modelling process, including trip generation, trip distribution, mode choice and multi-modal/multi-class traffic assignment.
  • Demonstrated experience with CUBE/TP+ software including script programming and network coding.
  • Experience with toll model applications, traffic simulation, land use models and TRANSCAD knowledge, preferred.
  • Demonstrated computer skills, particularly in MS Office, Excel VBA, Python, R, and GIS.
  • Critical thinking and strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work in a team based and collaborative environment.
  • A recognized commitment to high quality outputs, timely delivery, and customer satisfaction.
  • Masters or PhD degree in civil engineering, transportation planning/modelling, or a related field, preferred.
