At the Humane Society of Memphis and Shelby County (HSMSC), a non-governmental, non-profit (501c3), no-kill organization, we are committed to giving abandoned, homeless, and sick/injured/neglected dogs and cats a second chance at life. Our low-cost community veterinary clinic offers spay and neuter services, routine wellness care, and more, all with state-of-the-art technology, including ultrasound, digital X-ray, and cautery.

Responsibilities: Provide exceptional medical care, including exams, vaccinations, dental procedures, surgeries, and diagnostics. Aid in behavior modification plans. Administer and monitor controlled substances. Maintain comprehensive patient records. Supervise and mentor technical support staff. Champion and support the mission of HSMSC.


Requirements: Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) degree. Active Tennessee license to practice veterinary medicine. DEA controlled substances registration (or ability to obtain within sixty days). USDA accreditation (or working towards it). Professionalism, strong communication skills, and proficient decision-making and time-management abilities. Commitment to continuous personal and professional growth.
