Key Responsibilities:

  • Case Management: Assist attorneys with managing family law cases from inception through completion, including maintaining and organizing case files, calendars, and deadlines.
  • Document Preparation: Draft and prepare legal documents such as petitions, motions, affidavits, subpoenas, discovery requests, and responses, as well as settlement agreements.
  • Client Interaction: Communicate with clients to gather necessary information, provide updates on case status, and ensure clients are informed and supported throughout the legal process.
  • Research: Conduct legal research and gather relevant information to assist attorneys in case preparation.
  • Court Filings: File legal documents with the court electronically or in person, ensuring compliance with local court rules and procedures.
  • Discovery Process: Assist with the discovery process, including drafting discovery requests, organizing documents, and managing document production.
  • Hearing and Trial Preparation: Prepare exhibits, witness lists, and trial notebooks, and assist attorneys with preparing for hearings, mediations, and trials.
  • Administrative Support: Provide general administrative support, such as scheduling meetings, maintaining files, and managing correspondence.


Qualifications:

  • Education: Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Paralegal Studies or a related field, or a Paralegal Certificate from an ABA-approved program.
  • Experience as a paralegal, with a focus on family law.
  • Strong understanding of family law procedures and terminology.
  • Proficient in legal research tools and case management software.
  • Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion.
