Attendance is expected and fully supported.We are looking for an experienced Engineering Manager to lead one of the Data Platform teams within the Platform Product Group. The Platform Product Group is dedicated to building a trusted, scalable, and compliant platform. Its mission is to maximize velocity, efficiency, and quality by establishing foundational elements used across various products and teams at Coinbase, ensuring users receive a consistent and high-quality experience.Job DutiesBuild and manage engineering teams, to guide the development of features, services, and infrastructureCoach your direct reports to have a positive impact on the organization and support their career growth.Collaborate with engineers, designers, product managers, and senior leadership to translate our vision into a tangible roadmap on a quarterly basis. Break down complex projects into smaller pieces and lead the iterative design and implementation process.Be a thoughtful technical voice within the team, aiding in diligent architectural decisions and fostering a culture of high-quality code and engineering processes. Collaborate with Product and Engineering teams to ensure successful delivery and operation of multi-tenanted, distributed systems at scale.Work closely with our talent organization to identify and recruit exceptional engineers who align with Coinbase's culture and contribute to our products.Contribute to and take ownership of processes that drive engineering quality and meet our engineering SLAs.Job Requirements9+ years of experience of managing critical datastores infrastructure with high transaction throughput, production reliability, big migration, and technology evolutionTrack records of architecting and scaling databases with partitioning, sharding, distributed db, caching, router/proxyHands-on practice with Relational & NoSQL as well as some relevant engines, such as Postgres, MongoDB, DynamoDB, Redis, ElasticSearchReal-world experience of design scale-out infra and triage performance/reliability issues in a distributed envLeadership in terms of advancing developer experience/velocity and enforcing standards via self-service toolsProven experience of managing infra budget, contracts and vendors for efficiency, optimization and evolution roadmapEffective communication for mandarin-but-instrumental technical aspects, guidelines and tradeoffs to other service/product teams and non-technical stakeholdersEffect way to build and nurture multiple sub teams with big vision/roadmap, "can do" spirit, and practical dependency & prioritiesJob #: GPEM07USPay Transparency Notice: Depending on your work location, the target annual base salary for this position can range as detailed below.
