Vice President, Government Relations (Healthcare)
The Petrizzo Group is seeking a Vice President of Healthcare to join our boutique lobbying, strategic communications, and business development firm. Reporting directly to the President and CEO, the ideal candidate will be a seasoned government relations professional with extensive knowledge of the healthcare sector and policy environment. The VP of
Government Relations will advocate for our clients before the U.S. Congress and Executive Branch, leveraging their strong and diverse relationships with key elected and government officials to ensure client success. Exceptional client management skills are essential for maintaining day-to-day client relationships and contributing to the firm's growth by
pursuing new clients.
Responsibilities:
Client Focus: Lead and assist with management of the firm’s portfolio of healthcare clients, developing and executing strategies to achieve their congressional and regulatory priorities.
Lobbying Initiatives: Design and implement lobbying initiatives, strategic policy development, and
networking efforts directed towards Congress and the Administration.
Health Policy Expertise: Maintain in-depth expertise in health policy, understand the intricate health care landscape, congressional procedures, and the evolving political environment to best serve clients, including regulatory actions at HHS, CMS, and the FDA.
Client Development: Participate in client development initiatives.
Advocacy and Networking: Lobby on behalf of clients, develop strategic policy initiatives to advance client goals, network with key leaders and staff in Congress and the Administration, plan and lead client conference calls, collaborate with colleagues, and monitor healthcare legislation and regulations.
Engagement and Preparation: Prepare background materials, execute tactical advocacy meetings, consistently engage with Congressional members/staff and Administration officials.
Regulatory and Legislative Monitoring: Monitor, analyze, and prioritize emerging regulatory and
legislative issues in the health care industry.
Policy Documentation: Draft internal and external policy documents, including policy analyses, regulatory comments, hearing summaries, newsletters, and congressional letters.
Attendance and Collaboration: Attend hearings and briefings as needed and work collaboratively with other members of the government relations team on special projects as assigned.
Desired Qualifications
Highly resourceful team-player, with the ability to also be extremely effective independently.
10+ years of experience working in government relations – a combination of Capitol Hill and downtown experience is preferred.
Proven ability to handle confidential information with discretion, be adaptable to various competing demands, and demonstrate the highest level of customer/client service and response.
Expert level organizational skills that reflect ability to perform and prioritize multiple tasks seamlessly with excellent attention to detail.
Ability to build relationships with stakeholders, including staff, clients, and external audiences.
Demonstrates proactive approaches to problem-solving with strong decision-making capability.
