Position Summary
The purchasing manager oversees all purchasing activities of the company and ensures adequate process controls are in place. This function is a hands-on position assisting a small team with daily purchasing activities as well as working on strategic initiatives in support of the corporate direction. Key objectives for this position is maintaining and establishing safety stock levels that protect the company while minimizing the use of net working capital, achieving cost reductions in the process and through vendor negotiation. This function also includes management of priorities for suppliers and employees as well as occasional conflict resolution and support of finance relating to payables/paperwork discrepancies.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Required Competencies, Skills and Experience
- 3 5 years of professional experience in purchasing, material management or similar position in a manufacturing environment.
- Certified Purchasing Manager (CPM) preferred
- Prior management or supervisory experience preferred
- Prior experience in supplier development and proven success in negotiations and inventory management.
- Excellent interpersonal skills to manage suppliers and work with internal stakeholders
- Understanding of common manufacturing processes and quality requirements required
- Demonstrated analytical and problem solving skills required
- High proficiency in MS office applications required
