They have established an exceptional property portfolio in Carmel-by-the-Sea, encompassing boutique hospitality venues, mixed-use commercial spaces, dining establishments, and residential holdings. As they continue to expand their California operations, they are looking to add a skilled Development Manager to their team.This position offers the chance to lead prestigious development initiatives in one of California's premier coastal destinations, including a distinctive restaurant project conceived by an internationally acclaimed architect.The Development Manager will take charge of several simultaneous projects representing roughly 60,000 square feet of new retail and residential construction, alongside an architecturally distinguished restaurant development in Big Sur.Core Responsibilities:Build and sustain ongoing relationships with planning authorities, including regular bi-weekly sessions with planning leadershipManage the complex dual-jurisdiction approval requirements inherent to coastal development workGuide projects through intricate planning approval channels involving Monterey County, the City of Carmel, and the California Coastal CommissionTrack expenditures proactively to avoid cost overruns and maintain financial accountabilityCreate precise project budgets and construction timelines from project launch through final deliverySet realistic schedule expectations and communicate them effectively to all partiesWork in close partnership with the on-site Director responsible for construction operationsAct as the central point of contact between executive leadership and external professionals such as architects, general contractors, and planning advisorsEngage with community members and local partners as neededKeep thorough records of project status, obstacles, and key achievementsPrepare detailed weekly written updates organized by individual projectPresent regular briefings to internationally based senior executivesProvide insights on local market conditions and planning viability assessmentsSupport the evaluation of prospective investment and development opportunities
